Inside the app, every screen has a ? button with a step-by-step guide, and Settings → Help has all the guides plus a glossary of musical terms.
Tuning
The tuner doesn't react when I play
Open Settings on your iPhone → Privacy & Security → Microphone and make sure Concentus is turned on. Then play one string at a time, let it ring, and hold the phone near your instrument.
It keeps showing the wrong string
When a string is far out of tune, the tuner may think you're aiming for a neighboring string. Tap that string's button at the bottom of the Tuner to lock onto it, tune it, then tap it again to go back to automatic.
Can I keep my AirPods in?
Yes. By default the tuner listens through the iPhone's microphone even with AirPods connected. You can switch to the AirPods microphone in the Tuner's Settings (gear button) → Microphone; this needs recent AirPods and iOS 26 or later.
How do I tune paired strings (mandolin, 12-string, charango)?
Tune one string of the pair at a time while lightly touching the other to keep it quiet. The tuner understands octave pairs, like the charango's E strings.
Chords and scales
Why does a chord name change when I use a capo?
With a capo, the Chords screen names chords as they sound and tells you which shape to play. In Name a Chord, the big name is the shape you tapped, and the line underneath tells you what it sounds like with the capo.
My instrument or tuning isn't listed
Tap the instrument name at the top of any screen. Each instrument's tuning list has New tuning at the bottom, and the instrument list has Build your own instrument. Chords, scales and the tuner all work with what you create.
I'm left-handed
Turn on Left-handed in the Tuner's Settings (gear button). Chord diagrams and the fretboard flip to match.
Your data
Where are my songs and string logs kept?
Only on your device. They're included in your iPhone's backups if you use iCloud Backup or back up to a computer. Concentus doesn't collect any data; see the privacy policy.
I'm not getting string-change reminders
Check Settings on your iPhone → Notifications → Concentus and make sure notifications are allowed. Reminders are timed from the most recent string change you logged.
